I make figurative drawings and use any medium that seems appropriate at the time: charcoal, oil sticks, watercolor, graphite, etc. What drives my work is a desire to understand, and perhaps contend with, what it means to be human. Drawing in it's purist form has always been a way to investigate, dissect and understand the subject. In his novel "Blindness" Jose Saramago wrote "In order to invent heaven and hell a person needs to know nothing except the human body".
